Issue #92
Woah! There’s too much for one issue! Keep your eyes peeled for a Special Edition issue coming later today, which will include additional information specifically regarding some community initiatives at KeyForge Celebration!
A Preview of Visions
Ahead of KeyForge Celebration, Ghost Galaxy officially unveiled the KeyForge: Prophetic Visions Gamefound campaign. The page, currently in a preview state, hints at some of the new mechanics that will be featured in the game’s upcoming ninth standard set.
Players who “follow” the Gamefound campaign, will receive 1 “Foresight Deck” (featuring a special card design) at no additional cost if they ultimately back the campaign with a pledge tier before the campaign closes.
The campaign is expected to go live on November 21, 2024, 10am CT.
The Release of Keymander 2.0
The latest batch of Keymanders is officially here with the release of Keymander 2.0! Fabulousing and June announced the release on the Keymander Discord server Friday evening.
Unique to this release, is all of the Keymanders (and supporting cards) in this set have been designed by community members. In all, 16 different community members contributed to designing 23 new Keymanders, each with their own unique effects!
Players wishing to learn more or play Keymander can do so both by visiting the Keymander Discord server, as well as at KFC this year.
The HUMAN Report
Even though the Martian Civil War event has concluded, players will still need to wait a bit longer for the KeyNote Presentation at KeyForge Celebration to see which faction — the Elders or the Rebels — were victorious.
However, community member Kelly Sparks (a.k.a. DePapa) organized the Honest Underground Martian Alert Network (HUMAN) to collect unofficial results over the course of the event. 37 organizers contributed to “The HUMAN Report”, reporting 804 matches played across 80 different store MCW events, from 67 stores spanning 9 different countries. Here’s what the report collected:
Rebels led in matches won: 405 – 399
Elders led in store events won 40 – 34 (with 6 ties)
“The joy of getting to know KeyForge players across the world and hear about their experiences of the MCW offset the amount of work to gather and consolidate the information.” said Sparks. “Since the unofficial results between the Elders and Rebels was so close, I am hopeful that the war may be settled at KeyForge Celebration.”
In addition to the close results, it’s not clear what criteria will ultimately be used to determine the winning faction of the event. The KeyNote Presentation is scheduled for Thursday November 7 at 6:30pm CT, after the conclusion of the Last Chance Qualifier tournament that same day.
Archon Arcana Card Gallery Update
Archon Arcana, the community-powered KeyForge wiki site, has updated its Card Gallery to include cards from Æmber Skies, Tokens of Change, and More Mutation. This is thanks to the several contributors who help update and maintain the site.
Ask a Judge
Q: If I play Titanarpon and it is the first creature I have played that turn, does Titanarpon enter play ready?
A: Yes. The rules for Enters Play state that “an ability that modifies how a card enters play modifies how any cards that meet the criteria of the ability enter play, including the card with the ability.” Since Titanarpon would be the first creature you play that turn, it meets the criteria of the ability, and therefore the ability can modify how Titanarpon enters play.
