The Rule of June
As a two-time Vault Tour winner and co-designer of Keymander, it’s safe to say KeyForge is an important part of June’s life. “KeyForge is where I've made lifelong friends, found romance, helped folks come out, really engaged with the people in charge, had so many laughs, traveled to new places, found support, ignited my game design fire, and seen so many people be lifted up by community” says June, recounting her experiences with the game.
To June, it’s not only the game itself, but doing all of the other things in-between which make up each individual’s unique KeyForge experience. This is the bedrock of June’s latest project: Rule of Six — a podcast about doing as much as you can with KeyForge.
Releasing weekly on Fridays, June will host discussions with guests and read listener letters. “I have a lot to say about games but there's also so much I want to hear from people.” says June in discussing her new podcast, “My favorite moments in KeyForge are generally the conversations I have. I wanted to capture a bit of that for people.”
‘Doing as much as you can’ in KeyForge is summed up by June in three ways. One, wanting people to be the strongest players they can be. Second, helping others learn where and how they can engage with the game in the ways most enjoyable to them. Lastly, an observance of self: “I know we love KeyForge, but we also have our limits. Knowing when you need breaks or to change mindset or find support in community is just as important as playing your best. It IS playing your best.”
Meaningful — and perhaps, relevant — advice June is taking to heart, as alongside her announcement of Rule of Six, is her announcement that she has officially left the cast of the Help From Future Self podcast. “I love Blake and Sydnie so much” says June, speaking about her time on the podcast. “Encouragement and joy are like the embodiment of their podcast and they shared so much of it with me. Rule of Six is what I really want to do and I could never have gotten here without them.”
Along with Blake and Sydnie, it’s hearing from her other KeyForge friends that June is looking forward to the most, encouraging listeners to write in to ro6podcast@gmail.com or using the show’s Discord server. “Comment on the last episode! Ask about cards or decks. Share something you want other people to hear … tell me you disagree with me! Send appreciation. I'm thankful just to hear from you.”
Episode 1: Organizing Play featuring KingofBling, MammonDG, and JJ is available now. Rule of Six can be found on several podcast platforms, or added via RSS feed.
Skyshipping Underway
Ghost Galaxy posted Update 24 to the Æmber Skies Gamefound campaign on Friday morning, sharing the news that “Cargo Is In Transit!”. The first international orders heading to Asia, Australia, and Europe have left the Ghost Galaxy warehouse, with the Canada and U.S. shipments to follow shortly after. This means: Æmber Skies is not far away!
Ask a Judge
Q: I have both Galeatops and Doom Sigil in play. If I fight an enemy creature with Galeatops, does Galeatops’ Poison keyword resolve?
A: Yes, Galeatops’ constant ability limits the amount of damage that it deals when it fights, but the source of the damage is still Galeatops’ power, so the Poison keyword granted by Doom Sigil will still resolve.
