Welcome back! The Bad Penny Press team wishes you a Happy New Year! As we dive into 2024, here are some notable stories that happened over our holiday break:
Packing Grim Reminders
Announced in a Gamefound update before the end of the year: Ghost Galaxy has started packing Grim Reminders Gamefound orders! Asia and Europe orders were packed first to prepare for their earlier shipment, with Australia, Canada and US following afterwards.
The update also details additional verification processes used before sealing orders to attempt to minimize shipment errors.
Store Championships Preliminary Info & 2023 OP Recap
Ghost Galaxy verified that the 2024 Store Championships — the first of such event to be hosted under Ghost Galaxy — will be running between March 1–31, 2024, with stores being able to pick their own date in the month.
However, the launch of the Playstile app which includes retailer and event registration —originally scheduled to launch in December — had been delayed due to prolonged development of the app. Retailers are now expected to be able to register for their Store Championships early in 2024.
In another post, Ghost Galaxy shared a recap of the 2023 OP season, including insights into set distribution, as well as recognizing top performing decks.
Saying Farewell to the KPR Podcast
KeyForge Public Radio will be releasing its final podcast episodes in January, according to an announcement from creator and host Zach Armstrong.
“Once the last episode drops on January 17, that will mark the completion of my fourth year of podcasting for KeyForge.” said Armstrong in a comment to Bad Penny Press. “There are two constants that brought this game through the four death-blows that would have eliminated a lesser game: the quality of the gameplay itself, and the best community in all of tabletop games. The first one motivated me to make stuff, and the second one made it worth it for four years. There truly is nothing like this game, and this community.”
KPR focuses on discussions of strategy and improving as a player. The KPR social accounts, blog, and store will remain active as Zach’s outlet for occasional posting about KeyForge, and previously released episodes will continue to be available to listen.
MWKCO Changes
Isawa_Mo — organizer of the Midwest KeyForge Charity Open — announced in a post on Discord that the venue for the event would be changing, which also could result in the originally scheduled date (May 25–27, 2024) being altered as well.
We’ll follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
Ask a Judge
I have The Sting in play. My opponent has Strange Gizmo in play. When my opponent forges a key, do I get the Æmber before Strange Gizmo’s ability destroys The Sting?
Yes. The “when forging keys” of The Sting’s ability happens as your opponent is forging their key, while Strange Gizmo resolves after the key is forged. Since The Sting is still in play while the key is being forged, its ability will resolve prior to being destroyed by the resolution of Strange Gizmo’s ability.

Master Vault Numbers
As of January 7, 2024, a total of 3,162,421 decks were registered in the Master Vault.. This reflects an increase of 3247 decks in the last week.
In sum:
- Not a lot of registered decks since last update seems like not many were gifting decks this holiday season
- Call Of Discovery: The Sequel, is coming to an end,
- "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy" -adage hits the hype-machine-mavericks
- Playstile's had no updates since long before the new year and those updates were "shit's delayed."
There's more good news, somewhere, right? Like we have some featurettes across content creators who interviewed or engaged with the winners of the World Championships, right?
