Grim Reminders Gamefound Preview
On Thursday, Ghost Galaxy announced the launch of the KeyForge: Grim Reminders Gamefound campaign page. The campaign — currently in preview mode — details Ghost Galaxy’s plan for crowdfunding the next KeyForge set. The campaign is expected to run from September 28th – October 17th, 2023 with an estimated timeframe of shipping pledges in January 2024.
Ghost Galaxy previously crowdfunded KeyForge: Winds of Exchange with a campaign that raised over $1.1 million USD. Some changes that Ghost Galaxy says from then which will differ for the Grim Reminders campaign are:
The campaign will be for English language products only (with localized products coming later with commercial releases.)
Stretch goals will be simplified and not require additional backer action.
A retail pledge level will be available for games retailers in the U.S, Canada, U.K, and the EU.
People who “follow” the campaign on Gamefound are expected to receive a free KeyForge: Grim Reminders "Awakenings Edition” Archon Deck if they purchase a pledge level during the campaign.
Vault Tour Seattle Wrap-Up
Hot off the heels of Roseville, the 2023 Vault Tour headed 1,500 miles west to Seattle, WA for the next weekend of organized play.
$3,000 championship cash prizes were up for grabs, which U.S. National Champions Nova and AV8R both claimed as the winners of the Archon and Alliance tournaments respectively. Congratulations to both players!
More tournament results are listed in the KeyForge Play Wrap-Up section below. Dallas, TX and Shanghai, China — the first of two international Vault Tours for the 2023 season — are the next Vault Tours set to take place, both scheduled to run concurrently from September 15 – 17.
Winds of Exchange Shipping Update
Ghost Galaxy posted a brief shipping update for backers of the Winds of Exchange Gamefound campaign, including a chart detailing estimated timeframes for various countries and localizations. Fulfillment of all other Winds of Exchange pledges is expected to be completed within 8 – 10 weeks.
TRG v1.3 Released
On Wednesday, Ghost Galaxy released version 1.3 of the KeyForge Tournament Rules & Guidelines document. The update — which is largely clerical — clarifies items regarding event staff, resolving conflicts between different languages, using tokens and dice to track game states, and codifies the Playstile 2LO tournament structure into official formats.
Version 1.3 of the TRG went into effect immediately upon its announcement, and was used for Vault Tour Seattle which was held this weekend. More information regarding the changes can be read in Ghost Galaxy’s announcement.
Ask a Judge
During my turn, I destroy my opponent's General Sherman (which is the only creature in play). One of the creatures that had been purged by General Sherman’s Play: effect is Mimic Gel. What happens to the Mimic Gel after General Sherman leaves play?
As the active player, you determine the order in which the creatures purged by General Sherman enter play.
You could choose to have Mimic Gel enter play first. If you do, there are no other creatures in play to enter as a copy of, so Mimic Gel enters as itself as printed. If it does not receive any additional power from abilities when it enters play, it is destroyed instantly with 0 power.
If you choose to return other creatures first, you choose which creature in play Mimic Gel enters as a copy of.
