NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ghost Galaxy has put out the call to tournament organizers outside of the U.S. and are now seeking applications for 2023 National Championship hosts.

Organizers have until August 8th, 2023 to submit their applications. One applicant per country will be selected, and the chosen entity will be required to purchase a 2023 KeyForge National Championship Kit (priced at $500 USD).

The kit includes a number of prizes to be used for the Archon, Alliance, and Second Æmber tournaments required to be run by event organizers. Prizes also include invites to the 2023 World Championships and travel assistance for the winners of the Archon and Alliance tournaments.

National Championships are expected to take place between August 13th, 2023 and October 13th, 2023. The U.S. National Championship is being hosted at Gen Con from August 3rd – August 6th

VAULT TOURS

Ghost Galaxy also announced that Florence and Shanghai would be the only Vault Tours outside the U.S. for the 2023 season, emphasizing a focus on planning for the 2024 season.

Gen Con / U.S. Nationals Approaches

On Friday, Ghost Galaxy posted an overview of their upcoming attendance as a vendor at Gen Con Indy 2023. Ghost Galaxy will be at booth number 2927, which you can locate with Gen Con’s interactive map. Sign-ups for U.S. Nationals Events can be found on the Gen Con Events Page.

Lastly, Ghost Galaxy is looking for volunteers to help demo KeyForge at Ghost Galaxy’s booth. Volunteers will be compensated with Gamezenter Store Credit for every hour of assistance.

Playstile Overview and Update

Ghost Galaxy shared an update on the Playstile tournament platform, which was first revealed at the Philadelphia 2023 Vault Tour.

Playstile, developed by the company of the same name (and sister company of Ghost Galaxy), seeks to pair tournament and bracket management with Master Vault integration. While Playstile’s use is currently limited to official events run by Ghost Galaxy, the platform is expected to be available for local event use later this year.

Additional improvements to the platform are expected to go live in time for the U.S. National Championships, including more transparent match start times and warnings for the start of rounds.

I have Curia Saurus in play, my opponent has Autocannon. If I make a Cleric token creature, does it gain the Destroyed: ability from Curia Saurus before getting destroyed by Autocannon's damage?

Autocannon and Cleric resolve in the same “after enters play” timing window. As such, the Active Player can choose to resolve Cleric’s ability first, gaining the Destroyed: ability from Curia Saurus, then being dealt damage from Autocannon. The Active Player could also choose to resolve Autocannon first, resulting in Cleric being destroyed and removed from play before Cleric’s ability resolves.
