Certain Darkness
As hinted at last week, Ghost Galaxy has now announced details on the Certain Darkness special LGS event!
As detailed on the official event page, the Certain Darkness event are expected to be run from September 1 to October 31, 2025 at participating retailers (see the link for a locator of registered stores running the event.)
The event features “The Darkness” as a new threat to the crucible. Using the Sealed format, players incorporate cards from a Darkness pod included with the event kit. At the end of the event, Ghost Galaxy states that “at least one house with the most purged cards across the entire event period will be destroyed. Destroyed houses will never grace the Crucible or KeyForge again, and their denizens may (or may not) find refuge among the other houses.”
Interested retailers can purchase event kits using this link. Each kit supports 6 players, and the event can be run multiple times in the event window.
KeyForge for Charity
Save the date! The Midwest KeyForge Charity Open (MWKFCO) has been scheduled! In a release provided by the event organizers to Bad Penny Press, the benefit event is scheduled to be held on October 10–11, 2025 at the Ascension St. Vincent YMCA in Evansville, IN.
The charity event will be raising funds for the Southwest Indiana YMCA community outreach programs.
Further details on the event and ticketing is expected to be announced by the event organizers in September, and will be available on the Best Midwest KeyForge Events website.
KeyForge Playmat Creator
In a news post released by Ghost Galaxy on Sunday evening, the company announced the launch of the KeyForge Playmat Creator through their sister company Forgefire.
The creator site allows users to create and customize 24 x 14” playmats featuring their own selection of background art, as well as options for house icons or house art, and text.
The custom playmats are priced at $29.99 USD (excluding taxes and shipping). Ghost Galaxy also invites players to use their contact form to request missing artwork (if it is available and in a high enough resolution)

Q: My opponent and I each have 2 keys and 6 Æmber in our respective pools. My opponent has Prince Bufo under the prophecy The End is Nigh. I play Redeem the Crucible and destroy 6 Mutant creatures. Which of us wins the game?
A: Your opponent will win the game. The rules for Ability state “If resolving part of the instructions of a card ability causes other card effects to begin to resolve, resolve those other card effects before continuing to resolve the instructions of the first card.” This means that when you play Redeem the Crucible and resolve its ability text, the card effect of fulfilling The End is Nigh will resolve before you can continue resolving the portion of Redeem the Crucible’s Play: ability that would allow you to forge a key.
